The Kawasaki Vulcan S is the first cruiser motorcycle for the company to be launched in India. While Kawasaki will officially unveil the bike early next year at the 2018 Auto Expo, for now, booking have commenced across India.

India Kawasaki Motors has launched its first ever cruiser Vulcan S in India with a price tag of Rs 5.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The company is also going to showcase the new motorcycle at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo in February.
The Kawasaki Vulcan S is a 650cc sporty, urban cruiser that comes with Ergo-Fit technology, making it a very friendly option for riders of any stature. Along with a relaxed foot-forward riding position, the bike offers three different combinations of adjustable components including the handlebar and the foot pegs to provide a comfortable reach for the riders of varying heights. The brake and the clutch levers are adjustable too.

Commenting on the launch, Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motor, said "FUN TO RIDE is Kawasaki's global ideology, which perfectly fits to Vulcan S. It is different than any other cruiser mainly because of its powerful, yet easy-tocontrol engine, easy manoeuvring, lightweight yet stable, highway riding and important to mention 14-litre fuel tank with good fuel economy."
While it is based on the conventional cruiser laws including a low seat and raised handlebar, the Vulcan S stands apart due to its unique frame and sporty styling. The bike looks quite modern like an urban cruiser and its offset rear monoshock further provides a non-traditional look to the motorcycle.

Powering the Kawasaki Vulcan S is the same tested 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin that already comes with the Ninja 650, Z650 and the Versys 650. The motor, however, has slightly different, relaxed characteristics with 61PS of power coming at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 63Nm at 6,600rpm. The engine mated to a six-speed gearbox is quite manageable even for a novice rider and those willing to upgrade their motorcycle to a larger capacity one.
The bike gets a long wheelbase and runs on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel which comes shod with 120/70 and 160/60 section tyre respectively. Braking duties are handled by a 300mm front and a 250mm rear disc brake which further gets ABS (anti-lock braking system) assistance for safe stopping.
Bookings for the Vulcan S are open at the Kawasaki dealerships across the country and the bike will be available only in flat ebony colour. In India, the bike will compete with the likes of the Harley-Davidson Street 750, Street Ros and the Hyosung Aquila Pro, while the upcoming rival is the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
